ORBT celebrates Two Million rides!
November 18, 2024
Omaha’s first rapid transit line is celebrating yet another stellar stat — Two million rides.
That’s two million connections across our community.
That’s two million car trips off our roads.
That’s two million opportunities for new potential.
ORBT enhanced connections between downtown Omaha and Westroads, contributing to the growing urban core.
“ORBT introduced unprecedented connections throughout our city. In a few short years, it’s fostered growth and boosted the economy. Anyone on Dodge can see the growth budding along the corridor,” said Daniel Lawse, Board Chair for the Regional Metropolitan Transit Authority of Omaha. “Connections throughout this corridor and beyond have created meaningful opportunities for the people of Omaha. They’ve helped people reach new potential and improve their lives. We’re thrilled with the vibrancy ORBT has brought to our community.”
ORBT provides access to parts of our community that allow people to survive and thrive. It can take riders directly to numerous schools and colleges, hospitals, workforce hubs, and other important services. It connects directly to Omaha’s most iconic park, a skating rink free to the public, several booming entertainment centers, and peaceful nature trails. ORBT connects with nearly every route in Metro’s transit network, helping people get around town even faster.
“ORBT is a prime example of Metro’s mission. It connects people to the places, the opportunities, and the people who matter to them. It does it quickly and comfortably. We are proud and honored to provide this high-quality transit service to the people of Omaha,” said Lauren Cencic, Metro’s Chief Executive Officer.
ORBT has welcomed a growing group of riders as people discover how enhanced public transit benefits their lives. More passengers are now taking the bus along Dodge using ORBT than any time in the past decade.
Thank you to the Omaha community for helping ORBT reach this milestone!
To celebrate, Metro partnered with other iconic Omaha entities that truly make our city a dynamic and vibrant place to call home.
