Metro Service Increases, Route Changes Coming Mid-November
November 6, 2020
OMAHA, Neb – From Sunday, November 15th through Wednesday, November 18th, Metro Transit will introduce various route changes to increase service, expand routes, and coordinate with the launch of its first rapid transit line, ORBT.
“By making these service increases and route changes, we are responding to the changing needs of our riders and coordinating with the launch of ORBT while continuing to fulfill our mission of connecting our community with quality transit service,” said Metro’s CEO, Lauren Cencic.
These changes include:
- Extending service to Regency on Route 4: Regency Parkway, not previously accessible by transit, will be served by Route 4, providing valuable access to a crosstown route and connections to the Westroads Transit Center – and ORBT – for employers and workers in the area (starting Sun. 11/15)
- Restoring weekday service in South Omaha on Route 13: weekday service will increase from 30-minute to 15-minute frequency on Route 13 during rush hour, improving service reliability in South Omaha (starting Mon. 11/16)
- Replacing Route 2 with ORBT: This change, first announced in February, will allow Metro to increase daily round trips from 65 to 100 buses on weekdays, providing access to enhanced, reliable transit along Dodge and Douglas (starting Wed. 11/18)
- Temporarily modifying the West Dodge Express: Route 92 will provide service from Village Pointe to the Westroads Transit Center instead of continuing downtown, and increase weekday trips from four to ten; riders needing to travel farther east can connect to ORBT or use the Park & Ride at the Westroads Transit Center (starting Wed. 11/18)
Metro’s paratransit service, MOBY, will reflect the new route boundaries and service hours. Metro will continue to evaluate the need for further service increases and route changes in the future.
